Strawberry
When the strawberry plant grows a bit, I may yank the nasturtiums from the borders (or I may simply make sure they grow over the sides.) That bloom is the promise of fruit to come.

:-) I love my strawberry plants. I'm surprised yours is blooming this late in the season, though I shouldn't be, as spring would be coming later to Philadelphia than to Texas. Watch out for birds that will snatch your strawberries as soon as they're even halfway ripe. If you find little half-nibbled berries on your plant, I recommend putting some type of semi-closely woven netting over the plant.
You bring up a good point. This is the first time I've tried growing strawberries, and I have no idea if there's anything interested in molesting them or not.
If the pigeons start taking a liking to my strawberries, I could be completely out of luck.
